Choosing a scent from a list of six names is harder than it looks, because names tell you very little about how an oil will feel for the next 90 minutes. Sakura and Osmanthus Sunset sound lovely, but neither tells you whether you will finish the session alert or half asleep.
EAZE Spa in Phuket Town offers six aroma oil blends for its aroma oil treatments. This guide describes the character of each one and the kind of moment it fits, so you can walk in with a shortlist instead of a blank.
If you are still deciding between an aroma massage and a plain oil or Thai treatment, our comparison guide to the massage menu covers that question. This one assumes you have settled on scented oil.
How the choice works in practice
Your visit starts with a chilled aromatic towel and the signature herbal drink, then moves into a private treatment room. Ask to smell the blends rather than choosing from the labels. A scent that reads as pleasant on paper can be too sweet or too sharp on the day, and your reaction in the first two seconds is a better guide than any description, including this one.
Two practical points. Prices are set by treatment and length rather than by blend, so choose on instinct. And each treatment is tailored to the pressure and focus you ask for, which means the blend sets the mood while the hands do the work.
The six blends
Sakura
Floral and sweet with a touch of freshness, described as mind-balancing and deeply relaxing. It is the most recognisably pretty of the six. Good for an evening booking when you want the session to feel like a small occasion, and a safe choice if you are buying a treatment as a gift and cannot ask the person first.
Chamomile
Light and airy with natural floral notes, meant to soothe stress and restore inner vitality. Quieter than Sakura and less sweet, which makes it easy to spend two hours with. This is the one to choose if strong scent usually bothers you or gives you a heavy feeling afterwards.
Green Tea & Bamboo
Fresh and invigorating, described as awakening the senses and clearing the mind. The only blend in the set that leans clean and green rather than soft. Choose it for a daytime appointment when you have plans afterwards, or on a hot afternoon when a sweet oil would feel like too much.
Relaxing
A blend of lavender, lemon, rosewood and orange essential oils, designed to calm, ease tension and restore emotional balance. The lavender is what most people notice first, cut by the citrus so it does not turn heavy. This is the straightforward pick for a late booking on a day that has run long.
Aromatic Wood
Warm and spicy-sweet, built on nutmeg and citrus, and intended to uplift the mood. The most unusual of the six and the least floral, which makes it worth a try if flower scents are not for you. It works especially well in the cooler part of the evening.
Osmanthus Sunset
Curated to elevate the senses and complement your mood, and the hardest of the six to summarise, which is why it rewards smelling in person. Consider it when none of the more obvious descriptions fits how you feel, or when you have already tried two of the others and want something different.
Matching a blend to the moment
- A long day, a late booking. Relaxing or Chamomile.
- Midday, with plans afterwards. Green Tea & Bamboo.
- You want the treatment to feel special. Sakura or Osmanthus Sunset.
- Floral scents are not for you. Aromatic Wood.
- Sensitive to strong smells. Chamomile, and say so when you choose.
None of these are rules. If the one you liked on the way in is not the one this list suggests, follow your nose.
Standard or warm aroma oil
Two treatments use these blends, and the difference is the temperature of the oil rather than the technique.
Aroma Oil Massage uses the oil at room temperature, with long, flowing strokes over the body. It costs 790 Baht for 60 minutes, 1,190 Baht for 90 minutes and 1,490 Baht for 120 minutes.
Warm Aroma Oil Massage uses the same blends warmed before they go on your skin. The warmth spreads more quickly and many guests find it easier to settle into, particularly after a long stretch in air conditioning or on a day when firm pressure feels like too much. It costs 890 Baht for 60 minutes, 1,290 Baht for 90 minutes and 1,690 Baht for 120 minutes.
For a longer, more varied session, Harmony of Touch runs 120 minutes at 1,890 Baht. It is the option to consider when you want one booking to do more than a single technique can.
How long to book
Sixty minutes is enough to cover the body once at a comfortable pace. Ninety minutes leaves room to spend longer on the back and shoulders without rushing the rest. Two hours is worth it when you have the evening free and want to stop thinking about the clock. The scent lasts the whole session at any length, so the choice is about time rather than the oil.
Frequently asked questions
How do I choose a blend?
Ask to smell them when you arrive rather than deciding from the names alone. Your therapist can talk you through the six and help if you are torn between two.
Can I change my mind partway through?
It is best decided before the session starts, since the oil is applied from the beginning. If you are unsure between two, mention it when you choose and your therapist can help you decide.
Is the warm version worth the difference?
Many guests prefer it in the evening or after a day in air conditioning. If you generally like heat and slow, steady work, it is a comfortable upgrade. If you run warm, the standard version is the better pick.
Will the scent stay on my skin afterwards?
A light trace usually lingers for a while after the treatment. If you plan to go somewhere directly afterwards, that is worth keeping in mind when you choose a blend.
